Herrmann is a very busy actor and has been acting for more than thirty years. Herrmann has performed on Broadway, in feature films, on television, and has recorded over fifty books on tape. He has appeared on M*A*S*H, St. Elsewhere, Law and Order, and The Practice.
He played as Richard Gilmore; Rory Gilmore’s father on ‘Gilmore Girls’.
He won an Emmy award for his six episode story arc on The Practice. He was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in The Philadelphia Story Edward won a Tony Award for his performance in Mrs. Warren’s Profession. He has three previous Emmy nominations for St. Elsewhere, and the television movies Concealed Enemies and Eleanor and Franklin: The White House Years.
He is performing in a play at the Lincoln Center and working with Al Pacino and Dianne Wiest on Estelle Parson’s production of Oedipus the King.
