Gilmore Girls Season 1 was premiered on 10-5-2000 and built up a loyal following which assured the network WB some of its best ratings of that year. The series was set in the town of Stars Hollow, CT. The town is the home of 32 year old single mom Lorelai Gilmore and her 16 year old daughter Rory Gilmore. Christopher Hayden, Rory’s irresponsible dad to whom her mom never married. Richard Gilmore and Emily Gilmore are Lorelai’s wealthy parents and Lorelai has given birth to her daughter totally against their wishes. Now, Lorelai is landing a successful job as the manager of an independence inn. The other staff at the independence Inn also included French concierge Michael Gerard, talented chef Sookie St. James etc. Taylor Doose, the self appointed leader of the merchant class is the owner of a grocery store and the employer of Rory’s on-off boyfriend Dean Forester. Lorelai and Rory’s relationship is not like mother-daughter; it’s like sister-sister.
As the first season opened, Rory was accepted at prestigious Chilton prep school in Hartford. Lorelai’s parents agreed to pay the tuition fee on one condition. And the condition was that Lorelai mend her relationship with them and once again become part of their lives. The first season of Gilmore Girls ended on a contest as Lorelai pondered whether or not to accept Max Medina’s marriage proposal. There was, however, no doubt that critics and fans alike had thoroughly taken Gilmore Girls to their hearts. Season 1’s last episode ‘Love, Daisies and Troubadours’ was aired on 5-10-2001.

Lorelai is getting seriously involved with Max. Luke’s girlfriend Rachel accuses him of falling in love with Lorelai and Lorelai finds herself in the middle of another relationship. Max proposes Lorelai with thousands of yellow daisies. Rory tries to work up the courage to win Dean’s heart back.
